Following the Way

Following directions can be hard… Especially if you think you already know where you are going. Changing course can be harder… More so when we have been traveling the same road for a long time…

The reality for us is that we are called to keep the way of Jesus… That is to follow His way. Even when it calls us to go in a different direction or down a new path. However, to follow His way is more than just believing… It is living a way of life that reflects His teachings, values, and love. John the gospel writer records Jesus saying: I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6).

Jesus is calling us to more when He calls us to follow the way. To live a life after his example. It is a lifelong journey that He comes alongside us for… Pat Barrett writes it this way: And it's a new horizon and I'm set on You. And You meet me here today with mercies that are new. All my fears and doubts, they can all come too. Because they can't stay long when I'm here with You (Pat Barrett, The Way).

Whatever we seem to be going through… Whichever part of the journey we may be on. Jesus Christ meets us where we are with new mercies. All of our fear and doubt can’t stay long in his presence. It becomes critical in following the way of Jesus to know Him better each day.
It is an intentional effort to embrace His teachings that are found in Scripture and to live a life that reflects His love and truth so that our actions and words align and will draw others close to Him…

Let’s be known as His disciples by Following the Way of Jesus today.
