Into Pieces

Have you ever had a dream that felt so real that you woke up and hoped it was so? Except when you dusted off the cobwebs of your mind, you realized nothing had changed? It’s disappointing isn’t it? To look around and see the brokenness of the world. Or to wake up and realize that things aren’t where you wanted them to be at this stage in life.

The reality for the day and age we live in is that it is broken. When sin entered the world, God’s creation fractured a bit. And maybe you have cried out before to God because you feel broken… There have been times that you’ve said here's the pieces of my heart. What can You do with them, 'cause I can't hold them all together anymore. So I let them fall surrendered to the floor. You make all things new. God of mercy and love do what only You can do (Big Daddy Weave, All Things New).

The Good News and reality is that if we look throughout Scripture from Genesis 3 and on, we can see God working out his plan to redeem the world as well as our hearts and return them to its original intent. To be in communion with him. The apostle John had a similar vision when he was exiled on the island of Patmos. And toward the end of this vision, he writes these words: Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth, ”for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Revelation 21:1-5)

John’s vision is of a future that we have hope to be a part of as believers. Jesus Christ came, died and rose again for you and for me so that we would be adopted into the family of God so that we will be his people and He will dwell among us forever. Wherever you are today, God is working out his plan for the future. Whether you grow closer to him each day or everyday is a struggle, He is making all things new. Working out His plan for the redemption of the world.

Have hope today!
