To Infinity and Beyond
Humanity has been fascinated with the future for a long time. Fortune tellers, Science Fiction, and even the concept of Tomorrowland at Disney Resorts. We want to know what the future will look like. We want to know what our lives will be like. Movies like Back to the Future II showed us a glimpse into 2015. The problem with humanity trying to conceptualize the future is that we often get it wrong. 2015 came and went and it looked nothing like the hover skateboards we were all looking forward to. With our limited field of vision it can be hard to see what is coming next. We can feel alone out there in the world because we can only see what’s in front of us. Often we can feel abandoned and alone. Left to wander the big blue world with only a less than accurate conceptualization of the future.
However the good news for us is that we know someone who holds the future in His hands. We can put our trust in Him because He promises to be with us through it. He has seen the past, is active right now in the present, and continues to move creation toward His future. The author of the book of Hebrews puts it this way:
God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.†So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?†Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:5b-8 NIV).
Whatever we might be feeling today and wherever we may be wandering, God is there. He won’t leave you today. He will be with you tomorrow because He has been faithful all of your days. He’s the same God that formed the world. [He] heard [His] children then, [He] hear[s] [His] children now. [He is] the same God. [He] answered prayers back then And [He] will answer now. [He is] the same God. [He was] providing then; [He is] providing now. [He is] the same God (Elevation Worship, Same God). He will be there with you through it all. From now until the end of time. Turn towards Him today!
