Give it All Away

Blessings can be a wonderful thing. They can be small and some can be big. But what if we don’t feel like we deserve them? What if we feel that we haven’t earned them enough. It can change the way you view the world around you. Instead of seeing the blessings all around, we see hurt and pain. We see how we’ve been disappointed rather than blessed.
The truth is, that is the world’s perspective. That if you want something, you have to go and get it for yourself. Nothing comes from nothing… The problem with this view is that it’s not God’s perspective. And it’s not the call that he puts on your life. I think Sidewalk Prophets said it best that The way You give to me seems so unfair. So here is my life, it's all for the one. Who gave it all in the name of love. Now this hope You give to me I've got to share (Sidewalk Prophets, Give It All Away).

The reality is that we can’t earn God’s blessing… We can’t do enough for it. He gave it to us freely because He loves us that much. Exactly where we are. We have been blessed. And with that blessing comes a calling to share it with the church and the communities we live in. The gospel writer Luke records Jesus saying to: Give, and it will be given to you: a good helping, squashed down, shaken in, and overflowing—that’s what will land in your lap. Yes: the ration you give to others is the ration you’ll get back for yourself (Luke 6:38 NTFE).

We are called to give as we have been given to. To bless as we have been blessed. And what Jesus says here is that the measure you use to bless others will also be used toward you. We have a chance to add a multitude of blessings to the community around us. So give it freely. Let us be the change. Let us be Your light. Let us be Your hope. And let us give it all away (Sidewalk Prophets).
