In Your Hands

Have you ever wondered what your place in it all was? Where do you fit in? Many of us wrestle with that question for most of our lives. Where to go to school. What my career should be. To put it in the language of the church, what am I gifted to do in ministry. It can be paralyzing to have no idea where to even begin. But the reality for each of us is that your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands. May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word (Psalm 119:73-74).

Each of us have been given gifts from the Spirit for the work of the body of believers and each of us have a vital part to play because we are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand (Isaiah 64:8). We are being shaped and molded each and every day into something. And the things we allow into our lives will be instrumental in what is shaping us. We have to remember who the potter is at work. Allow His word to be the instrument shaping us. Take courage, hold on, be strong. Remember where our help comes from. Jesus, our redemption. Our salvation is in His blood (Hillsong UNITED, Good Grace).

He is the one working out the plan for the world. And we the body, as one, have a critical role. As Paul told the Ephesians, for it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:8-10).

We all have been given gifts of the Spirit. Maybe you don’t know what yours are. So find out. Take some time and understand what God has given you. Maybe you haven’t used them in a while. Pull them out of the drawer and dust them off. The community needs you. You are the work of God’s craftsmanship. Don’t waste it.

People, come together. Strange as neighbors, our blood is one. Children of generations, of every nation, of kingdom come (Hillsong UNITED, Good Grace). What you do next is in your hands. What will you do?
