A Million Little Miracles
Adversity is a part of life. We face many challenges throughout the day. If you get too caught up in those challenges, we can miss what God is doing in and around those very adversities. Enjoying what is happening in the face of adversity is a huge task… However, The only thing that will enable me to enjoy adversity is the acute sense of eagerness of allowing the life of the Son of God to evidence itself in me. No matter how difficult something may be, I must say, “Lord, I am delighted to obey You in this” (Oswald Chambers).
The grace of God has been on the move in our lives… Yet, we often miss it, but it is there through these little miracles that have brought us to this place and time. Maverick City and Elevation Worship collaborated to write these words:
All my life, I've been carried by grace. Don't ask me how 'cause I can't explain. It's nothing short of a miracle I'm here. I've got some blessings that I don't deserve. I've got some scars, but that's how you learn. It's nothing short of a miracle I'm here. I think it over and it doesn't add up. I know it comes from above.
I've got miracles on miracles. A million little miracles. Miracles on miracles. Count your miracles. One, two, three, four, I can't even count 'em all (Million Little Miracles).
Paul understood this principle in the face of adversity… Paul had been held captive for much of his ministry, but he understood the grace of God working miracles of grace on his life. He writes to the church in Corinth, But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body (2 Corinthians 4:7-10).
We carry the life and death of Jesus Christ with us as we go through adversity. He is there working when nothing else seems to… holding us up… steadying our spirit… The truth is [He] held [us] steady so [we] wouldn't give up. [He] opened doors that nobody could shut. I hope I never get over what [He’s] done. I wanna live with an open heart. I wanna live like I know who [He is]. I hope I never get over what [He’s] done. It's not coincidence and it's not luck. I know it comes from above (Million Little Miracles).
Though the adversity presses in… Though we may feel struck down… We are not crushed or destroyed… The grace of God has been there… It is there… It will always be there to steady us… To hold us… And will continue to work those million little miracles in our lives… We just need to take the moment to see them.
