He Won't
When all I see is the battle, You see my victory. When all I see is the mountain, You see a mountain moved. And as I walk through the shadow, Your love surrounds me. There's nothing to fear now for I am safe with You. - Phil Wickham, Battle Belongs
For many of us when facing a task or project that seems impossible, we only see the problem before us… We see the struggle to finish. Yes we may understand our purpose in what we are doing. We may find ourselves filled with passion that can carry us… for a time. Passion can only take us so far on our own… If all we see is the battle raging around us, or the mountain before us… We will fall. But we serve a God who sees the bigger picture… He sees the victory. He sees the mountain moved. David, who was considered to be a man after God’s own heart, who fought many battles and hid from many enemies wrote these words:
"I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved from my enemies" (Psalm 18:1-3).
David knew that apart from God, he could do nothing… That the Lord would remain with David and protect him all the days of his life. When you go through your own battles… When you are trying to pursue purpose with all your heart that will outlive this generation… Do you believe the same as David?
Cody Carnes, in his song Firm Foundations, writes, I've still got joy in chaos, I've got peace that makes no sense. I won't be going under, I'm not held by my own strength. 'Cause I've built my life on Jesus. He's never let me down. He's faithful through every season, So why would He fail now?
In the chaos we may face… As we try to leave a legacy in this world… Can we find the assurance of David? The Psalmist goes on to write in Psalm 119, "Forever, O Lord, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens. Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast. By your appointment they stand this day, for all things are your servants" (Psalm 119:89-91).
Scripture tells us that the faithfulness of our God will endure through every generation… That is the legacy of God… So when all you see is the battle or the mountain… and the days turn to weeks. Or the weeks turn to months…
Why would He fail now?... He won’t - Cody Carnes, Firm Foundation…
