All Things New

If you had to pick a movie that represented your life today, what would it be? Maybe some great action film where you are the hero… Or a RomCom where you are the leading character… Or maybe somedays… Or some seasons even feel like Groundhog’s Day… That you are just in this constant cycle of the same thing over and over… Constantly stuck in this rut. Constantly feeling overwhelmed, put down, or stressed out… There are many days that you just feel broken…
The truth is for humanity… We are. Separated from paradise because of sin… Born into a broken world where many times we feel pushed to the side… Or that we are not enough…
But what if I told you there was one who could break the cycle. One who could give you a new start… In fact, what if I told you that He could make you brand new from the inside out. Big Daddy Weave sings it this way:
I've heard You can take what's broken and make it whole again. Well, here's the pieces of my heart. What can You do with them? 'Cause I can't hold them all together anymore. So I let them fall surrendered to the floor. You make all things new. God of mercy and love, do what only You can do and make all things new (Big Daddy Weave, All Things New).
It is only God who can make us new. To break the repetition of the cycle… It is through Jesus Christ that we find a new way of life. The Apostle Paul explained it to the Corinthian church this way:
For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:14-17)
When we are found in Christ, the cycle of sin can be broken. The cycle of brokenness can be made whole. He is still making new things…
Why not let him make something new for you today?
