The One You Love

As hard as we try… We don’t always get it right. At times we feel on the outside of our world… Alone or left out… It’s tough to keep going sometimes when we feel that way… When you are all alone in a sea of people.

In the 2022 census, there were more than 333 million people in America. Feeling left out or alone when there are just so many other people may be a common feeling for many. If there are so many out there, how can my voice be heard? How can my thoughts matter?

There may not have been so many people when Paul wrote his letter to the Ephesians, but he understood the feelings of needing to be seen and known. In the opening chapter of his letter he writes: For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love, he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves (Ephesians 1:4-6).

Before the foundation of the world was laid, your name was on His mind. You have been chosen. No longer left out in a sea of millions of people. Through grace we come to understand the depth of the love that he has chosen us with… Elevation Worship puts it this way in their song The One You Love:

You take me just as I am. You'd choose me all over again. I am the one You love. I don't have to prove anything. There's room at Your table for me. I am the one You love (The One You Love).

Wherever you may be today… Whatever you may be going through… God loves you… He chooses you. Just as you are… And he has made room for you to be with Him out of his glorious grace… He has made you with purpose…
