Greater Still

Sin is not exactly a topic that is easy to talk through. We all experience sin and shame at some level, but it is also the thing that we try so very hard to address on our own. Either because we think we can manage or we don’t want anyone to find out.
The tricky part about sin is the longer we let it sit… The harder it is to walk away from. It is a continuous struggle that can lead to rock bottom… And eventually lead us to believe that we can’t get any better… and that we can’t ever have forgiveness…
The truth of the Gospel and the truth of our faith is that God sees you when no one else does… He knows your struggles and he knows the sin you and I carry every day… And yet… He still came to save us… Not out of our own goodness, but because we needed his…
Brandon Lake wrote a song in 2022 called Greater Still that speaks to the heart of the issue of sin… He writes: You met me at my lowest moment. You saw me at my very worst. When I expected disappointment, love was all I heard. My sin was deep, your grace was deeper. My shame was wide, your arms were wider. And my guilt was great, your love was greater still (Greater Still).
The deep things we hide away in the closets of our lives can be covered by an even deeper grace. The shame we hold on to can be held in His arms… And when guilt required my life… His love shone brighter…

Paul wrote to the Ephesian church with this crystal clear understanding of grace. Paul wrote it this way: In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us (Ephesians 1:7-8a NIV).
The riches of God’s grace have been lavished on us today… Something we don’t deserve… But it is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8). It was in our darkest moments that God has pulled us into his light through the resurrection of Jesus Christ (Greater still).
May you feel his presence today and the love he has for you.
Take a moment to listen & pray through this song from Brandon Lake, Greater Still
