To Be Known

One of the greatest challenges is to feel accepted. Whether at work or in our peer groups, we want people to know who we are and invite us in. If we look at the messaging of the day, we are told that we need to be in the new fashions… Follow all of the trends… Unfortunately, in this day and age, we can get so caught up following all of that to be seen by the world or trying to fit into the crowd that we forget who we are or what we were called to be.
However, there is one that has always been there. Who sees us for who we are and loves us beyond measure. Tauren Wells came out with a song in 2017 called Known and it reads this way:
I'm fully known and loved by You. You won't let go no matter what I do and it's not one or the other. It's hard truth and ridiculous grace. To be known. Fully known and loved by You. I'm fully known and loved by You. It's so like You to keep pursuing. It's so like me to go astray, but You guard my heart with Your truth. A kind of love that's bulletproof and I surrender to Your kindness (Tauren Wells, Known).
We are fully known by our creator. He sees us. Our ups and our downs and everything in between. He has known us all along. The psalmist understood this in Psalm 139 when they wrote:
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence (Psalm 139:1-7).
We may not be seen by the world. We may not fit in with everything around us. Following trends and latest ideas won’t make us more known. The reality is we are already fully known. Every thought, word, and action is known to God. You are seen… You are known… You are loved… Just as you are and just where you are…
