You'll Go Down in History

We all have dreams and aspirations. Things we hope to achieve. Places we hope to travel to. Goals that we have set for ourselves. The journey into the future may not be so easy to get there. It was not easy for one special person who had the dream to be a part of a team that made Christmas happen. He dreamed and dreamed of riding with this team every Christmas eve. The only problem was that he was a little different. He had a shiny red nose and didn’t fit in with the other reindeer. Rudolph had goals for his future. However, things didn't go as he had hoped for. So he left Christmastown in search of a new future…
Our lives can seem the same sometimes. We can be so hopeful for a desired outcome. Sometimes it happens and sometimes not. The journey to the future however can help shape us along the way. Poor Rudolph left Christmastown very sad… On his way out he met a wonderful friend named Hermey, an adventurer, Yukon Cornelius, and even had a run in with a Bumble…
His adventures led him to the Island of Misfit toys and eventually back home where his dream finally came true. Rudolph saved Christmas and gave the misfits a home. The hopeful future was there for Rudolph. The journey was just not what he expected…
Our journey to a hopeful future may also be filled with twists and turns. But we have something to be hopeful for. As the Apostle Paul wrote:
In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. -Ephesians 1:11-14
Our lives have been marked with purpose to be worked out according to the will of the Father. The journey may twist. It may turn. We may or may not see our name go down in history like Rudolph, but we can be hopeful that He holds us in his hands and works all things for good and he promises to finish them until they are complete.
May we be filled with His love this week and be hopeful of the future to come.
