Fall is in the Air
By Eddie Keith
Fall is in the air. As the season continues to change, for many, that means pumpkin
spice, warm apple cider and all the plaid clothing you can find. However, for some of us, fall means something else. The air chills your bones, the days are gloomy and the nights are longer, especially when there is rain for a week. If any of you are like me, I fall into the second category. In my own battles with depression, the fall has always brought about feelings of struggle and sadness. Life just seems a bit more chaotic and overwhelming as the season begins to change. You may even feel lost with no direction... But there is hope this fall.... As we sought to look at this past weekend, there is hope in the God of Promise. That He has our future prepared as we seek after him with our whole heart. That doesn’t make a tough season in life any easier...
What is that thing that weighs you down this fall season? Where are you feeling
overwhelmed or weary?
The prophet Isaiah spoke these words to the people of Israel which I find fitting for those who struggle through the fall:
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31
The God of Promise is actively working throughout our days and weeks... even in the
darkest of times... we can trust in his understanding and strength...
Even in our darkest times, there is reason for hope in the Lord. He will renew our
strength...
Look for the hope this fall, my friends. Even when we feel down, tired, and slightly
gloomy.
The God of Promise has a plan that he is working out for his good!
