Summer School
I know that no one wants to talk about school in the summer, but was there ever a subject you just loved to study? Math, history, literature? Maybe it was something more trade related that grew your skills within a hobby or workforce. But something that just grabbed your attention or maybe it was the teacher who brought the material to life for you. When those types of experiences come into our lives, it almost seems that we’re driven to know all we can. Whether it’s about the latest antique that you found or dissecting math equations. We want to understand. Now what if we applied that same idea to the study of Scripture. Of knowing and understanding the character of God. So that we can go out and share the inheritance we’ve been given as sons and daughters of the living God. This isn’t just for preachers and teachers. Every believer has been given the Holy Spirit to work inside of their lives so that they may grow each day in faith. Guiding and directing. This was at the heart of Paul’s writings throughout the New Testament.
When he wrote to the Colossians church, his prayer was to ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light (Colossians 1:9-12 NIV).
We have been given new life for a purpose. To bear fruit in every good work. To grow in knowledge. To be strengthened with endurance and patience. So that we could share in the inheritance of adoption through Jesus Christ. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:13-14 NIV).
Let the Spirit of the Living God work in you today. Allow the spark of His light to fill you. So that when every creature finds its inmost melody and every human heart its native cry. Oh then in one enraptured hymn of praise we'll sing Christ be magnified. Oh, be lifted high, Jesus. Oh! Christ be magnified. Let His praise arise. Christ be magnified in me (Cody Carnes, Christ Be Magnified). May you grow in wisdom and understanding today. Let your praise arise so that Christ will be magnified in your hearts and minds. Study hard. Understand more. May the eyes of your heart understand where He is guiding you today.
